ABOUT
Hansol is a versatile visual artist and curator based in Toronto, bringing over a decade of experience in the arts. With a strong commitment to arts and culture, she has curated numerous exhibitions and festivals since 2018, fostering a vibrant community of collaboration. Hansol believes in the transformative power of art to connect people and inspire dialogue, often highlighting diverse voices and perspectives in her events.
Her artistic exploration spans a wide range of mediums, including oil, encaustic, acrylic, sand with experimentation as a foundational aspect of her practice. Hansol's work delves into concepts of form and subjectivity, examining the interplay between the history of painting and the complex emotions that shape human experience. Each piece invites viewers to engage in a dialogue that transcends traditional boundaries.
Recently embracing motherhood, Hansol's experiences as a new mom have infused her work with fresh inspiration and a sense of pure light—elements she considers vital for society today. She is currently developing a series titled "Chasing the Light," which highlights the vivid contrasts of human emotions and explores the idea that light can only be fully appreciated in the presence of darkness. Through this series, she aims to plant seeds of hope in a world often overshadowed by despair. Hansol holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from OCAD University and recently served as the director of Blitz Gallery.
Hansol (한솔) is the birth name of Angela Kim, which she reclaimed during a project at Nuit Blanche in 2023, unveiling her new artistic identity as Hansol.
